What a fantastic summer it has been at Hope Barton. We had a few overcast weeks but otherwise the sun seemed to shine continually. The flower borders have looked stunning & with the blue skies - what more could you ask for?
Bookings have been very high but we still have cottages available during September & October
should you want to recharge your batteries by taking a short break.
Unfortunately our lovely old Boer Goat "Daisy" died a few weeks ago & so we are now looking to
replace her with a few others. It will be interesting to see whether these will be as playful.
We have a number of newly hatched chickens & ducklings & they are all doing well!
We planted an orchard 4 years ago & with the abundance of apples this year managed to produce
our first batch of "Filthy Ferret" juice. Excuse the name - this was another staff initiative! We plan
to expand the orchard & move into Cider production shortly. Then there are the bees & planned honey
production - but that's another story.
Our semi organic veg patch has been very successful again & this makes us almost self sufficient.
With the excesses produced we also have various new types of chutneys & jams available. They
taste excellent & compliment the other home made items available at Hope Barton.
There is far to much to tell you in this limited space. But we have a solution to that too as you can
